We're a family of 4 that uses the shower. We'll use the campground shower if its clean just to save time getting ready in the morning, but we'll use the camper shower if the campground facilities are unavailable or gross.

I replaced my shower head with a Rinse Ace. It's like a kitchen sink sprayer with a much longer hose. (I tried to use a sink sprayer first but couldn't find the right plumbing fitting to make the transition). It gave me one-handed control (saving water) and a more powerful spray than the stock shower head. I think Home Depot sells them but if not, lots of places online do.

When boondocking we use the shower daily. Most folks figure their shower system out that works for them. We have a small tub that we place fresh water in and use it to soap up. Then we rinse. Doesn't use much water and we smell much better. If we are in a location where there are showers available, it all depends on the upkeep of the showers available. We always have sandals that we where in public showers. We do use the outside shower whenever possible. We try to catch the gray water in a small pool below and dispose that water in an appropriate manner.

We always use our shower, that's half the point of having a camper. If it weren't for having a kitchen and bathroom with you you could just use a tent. We got one with a dry bath but still wish it were bigger. I wish more truck camper manufacturers would offer even larger dry baths, maybe get rid of the table to gain the space. I can sit outside.

We use the camper shower only. No need to invite foot infection etc. We don't like hauling the bathing stuff to a place that has no shelf or hanging hook (often the case). A "navy" shower can be done with a gallon or a little more of water.

A guy in the park here bought a new upper end 37ft MH and the shower is smaller than the one in this camper,he was very disappointed. Its one of the corner showers and no bigger than the one in my old 2003 1161 imagine spending $200000 plus and squeezing into the shower.

Right you are Gary. Also speaking from experience, the shower in my Lance is more 'curtain friendly' with the shower curtain placement than the one in my Laredo 5th wheeler. The 5ver came with a 'folding shower door' and it takes up space. In an effort for more comfort in the 5ver, I hung a shower curtain from the door's upper runner, and now just leave the door open and use the curtain instead. It helped a little bit, but I still prefer the Lance's shower.

I have been a tent camper since my Boy Scout days long, long, ago. Now I need to get up off of the cold ground to get a good nights rest, a truck camper seems to be the best choice. I am here to learn as much as I can.

Interesting to read all the responses,

I guess I am a little prudish in saying that I like to travel with my own bed, toilet and shower. That's why we bought a camper, otherwise we'd still be backpacking and sleeping in the tullies somewhere, waking up cold and stiff and washing our faces in cold stream water. the good news is that if that feeling comes over me I can still step outside and splash cold water in my face if I need to get in touch with my past.

We have always had a shower aboard in our selection of campers, be it a wet or dry bath, currently the Bigfoot affords us the luxury of a dry bath and summer or winter, in the bush or rv park we always make good use of our facilities.
I have mounted extra jerry cans on the rear now so that when we are out quading or summer camping in dusty climes we can shower off more often, and believe me that's proven to be an absolute blessing at times.

I raise my soapy thumb in support of all those who scrub their buns from the comfort of their rigs. :fing32:

I will always use the shower in my TC before useing the campground's. My shower is cleaner, and I feel safer and more secure. If I should brush-up against my shower wall, I know it's "my" kudies I'm touching, and not the unknown stranger who showered before me. After showering and drying off, I can take my sweet time getting dressed because, well, I'm in my own home. With good water management and taking "navy" showers, I can dry camp for 6 days and have plenty of water to shower once a day.

The ability to use my own shower, bathroom and bed is why I have an RV! If I am in a campground, I do check out the showers. If they are clean or look like they have just been cleaned, I "might" use the campground facilities so I can take a long, hot shower, but mostly use what I have in the RV. The better half almost alway always uses the campground facilities, claiming she does not have enough hot water and time in the shower to do her hair.

Oh here's another good reason. Alot of campgrounds have gotten to the habit of turning the hot water down to lukewarm to save money....

I have never showered inside the camper as of yet, I have an outside Porta shower stall and love it. The camper is free of humidity and the other ride along can hang inside. I boondock almost exclusively. I grew up as a backpacker so I have no issue using a campground site or hanging a water bottle from a tree. I will never sacrifice my hygiene. I have standards.

Wife never, me once, in the driveway, to see of it worked. Seemed real strange to take a shower out in the front of the house. :62_62:

Perhaps you should have tried the inside shower too Stan. I bet that wouldn't have been as strange. :D

We call this a "navy" or "military" shower, and it is a good practise, even when not boondocking!

Yep, the infamous sea shower...

We boondock alot and we do use the shower often.

When at campgrounds we use their shower facilities.

The last time I stayed at a campground with facilities was about 4-years ago. I'm usually "boonie" camping at either a horse camp or a dog trial. Shower? You bet! Similar to what many said, I fill the bathroom sink with hot water, scrub, wash hair, then rinse. On one 8-day trip I did have to drive a couple miles to a dump station at day 7. I have an outside shower tent but haven't set that up yet, I like inside better.

I'm going to find one of the Rince Ace sprayers, I like the way that sounds. :)

My wife and I exclusively boondock, and one of the must-have items for our TC was in fact a shower. We use it everyday and would definitely not do without it. As others have mentioned, we have a good system that allows for a shower without wasting a lot water in the process.

We try to use our dry bath almost exclusively. It has lots of room and no need to wipe down after a shower. While boondocking in Mexico sometimes we have to make other arrangements as water is a concern. There is always some sort of shower available.....usually cold. When in campsites we almost always use our own as it is much more convenient......and cleaner.
