Sorry to hear that Bob. but one thing no one else mentioned, did you save one camper for you to travel in?

Best of every thing in the future and just enjoy the retirement even if it really wasn't what you wanted at this time.

I am at a loss for words. Losing a loved one or a friend has to be the worst thing in the world.

Closing a company you have built with blood sweat and tears can't be too far behind. ;)

Damn it Bob, I am really sorry to hear this.

I also have to apologize to current Snowriver owners, many of which have become personal friends.

Bob Mehrer,
President.

Screw that!

Bob, you owe us no apology. I personally want to thank you for building a quality product which has brought nothing but joy to my family. For that, I am in your debt.
Thank you.

Bob and Heather,

The camper company is no longer going to be the center of your life, but a new center will evolve over time. We know that you will not let circumstances get you down.

The owners of your fine campers will cherish the great design and construction for many years. We will continue to brag about our Snowriver.

We have no concern about our camper being an “orphan” or having a lack of warranty because it is so well made. Most RVers are very much on there own anyway when they are a thousands of miles from immediate help.

We are grateful for having met you and talked with you for a few hours.

You had a run that you can be very proud of forever.

Best regards,
Ron and Margot

Since I am on the road, this is the first opportunity I have had to comment on this. Bob told me what was going to happen a last week when i stopped by. It is unfortunate & I think we will see a lot more other companies packing up before people re adjust to higher fuel prices. Canadian companies have the double whammy of a stronger Canadian dollar to deal with. If Bob does not re kindle the company later, then maybe some other company will buy the rights to produce them with Bob's input or something like that. I somehow can't see Bob retiring.

I have asked myself that had I known he was going to fold this year whether I would have bought a Snowriver back in November. To be quite frank, I think answer would be yes. I know I have one of the best campers out there and the things likely go wrong are things I can get repaired at any RV dealer, although I would likely take it to one in Penticton or Kelowna where i could ask Bob to go & make sure they are doing it right. My biggest fear is writing it off & being unable to replace it. It's too bad they couldn't divirge into making those Class C's for the rental market until the North American market picks up. They were a great idea and from what I have seen on the road this summer, fuel prices are no deterent to Europeans coming over here & renting RV's.

Whatever happens & whatever path Bob's life takes, I am happy to say that I have gained a lifelong friend.I am sure many of his other customers feel the same way.

Dear Heather & Bob

Paula & I were deeply saddened to read your post and that you are closing the doors to Snowriver. Having had a business of my own for over 20 years with 23 employees I can imagine the heartbreak that you are going through. I was fortunate in that I was able to choose early retirement and sell my business so that I could pursue lifelong dreams of traveling. Too bad you are way out there on the west coast and our paths may never cross again. Please, please remember you have friends here in Nova Scotia and we would welcome you into our home should you ever decide to journey this way. Loads of room in the house and a big driveway for Heather, you and your camper. Let us know where you are this winter as we will be heading south to Mexico again and maybe we can share an ice cold Bud with you somewhere along the line. THANKS BIG TIME for all you have done for the truck camper industry!! And as they say here in Nova Scotia " LONG MAY YOUR BIG JIB DRAW"

Bob,

First of all, let me say Thanks!!! Thanks for building the best camper out there. Thanks for all your help whenever I had a question or concern. Thanks for taking care of the couple of small issues I had with my camper and especially Thanks for all the innovative concepts and ideas you brought to the truck camper industry. I feel it very unfortunate that the current economic times count your company as a casualty and I hope all of your employees will be able to find new employment in a timely manner. I have never been in a situation like you are now in and I can only imagine how you must feel. I hope you will get past this and continue to thrive in whatever situation you find yourself in, if you are ever in the upper midwest, you will always have a spot to park in my yard with a 30amp hookup and some cold Budweiser in the fridge.

I am reading through this and I am expecting Bob to come back with one of his typical comments"just kidding".
This has got to be the saddest news I have ever read on here. All summer my wife and I were talking about what items we would be ordering for our new SR. I have to call my wife and give her the bad news.
Bob, I truly hope you come back with that "just kidding reply".

Bob,

Thank you for everything that you've done for the TC industry. You are certainly a respected leader in my book. I'm truly saddened to read about the closing, but only you can decide what is best for you and the company. You built a terrific group of campers and I hope that one day the Snowriver name can be brought back along with all of the fine employees.

This truly is a sad day among sad days. In all my travels, calling on Bob, Al, Terry and the gang was always a treat. It was a year ago, last month that we were eating doughnuts and joking about retiring due to how well we all were doing. Now, in spite of the size of Interior, our industry has lost a giant. The business we all love, is hanging by a thread.
It would be nice to see a revival when the market bounces back but it would be Bob's style to enjoy retirement. I would imagine (and hope) that Bob will be somewhat available from time to time. I look forward to looking back and laughing (or crying) about this horrible period. It will be interesting to see who's still around, who's new, and what the market looks like in a year or two.
Good luck to everyone at Interior and keep in touch. You will be missed.

Bob,

You are goin through some kind of hell I'm sure. the one thing you forgot was the fact that your integrity as a man and product were never compromised. I deeply respect you for what you have left behind as an indelible mark of what a camper should be.

I respect you both and offer my support in any way I can.

If you like I could run up and drop my bigfoot swap for the a snowy and fool the creditors. Keep laughin my friend for you'll soon be joining us in our travels; time to stop workin anyway.

Bob, I've been away from the site for a few weeks going through what I though were some tough times. But then I read your post and realized that there are different levels of "tough" and am saddened by what you're experiencing.

Take care.

Bob, if you are in any way embarrassed about having to pull the plug, I think the last 2 pages of posts demonstrate you don't have to be. To be quite honest I am surprised (or maybe not) with the outpouring of emotion here. You have made a lot of friends over the years and its a testament to yourself that your friends stand behind you like this during what must be a tough & emotional time for you.

The support is very overwhelming. I am glad to see people understand the economic situation. I have been asked if I kept a camper for myself, I did not. Part of selling the remaining inventory was to sell all campers. I will possibly look for a Snowriver or Snowbird in the next while and then start to travel. I do have a 27" Corsair 5th wheel I took on trade and am using it as a guest room in the back yard. It could possibly do until a good deal comes along. Or I may take a few months and build myself a camper in the spring. There are always new things to try out. At this time I have a few other things on my plate.
I was offered a job with another manufacturer, but the 600 mile commute and border crossing every day would be a real pain. Heather and I have settled into eating Kraft dinner and Gravy Train. The Kraft dinner is OK. But the Gravy Train makes you want to lick your own, well you know.

Rent some space from Huey or somewhere & build yourself one. If you decide to, give me a phone call. If I am around (maybe going to Mexico, but if you can work around that, I can too) I will come up & help you in exchange for room & board. Never hurts to have intimate knowledge of how my camper is put together.

Ever considered asking the person who gave you the job offer (You told me who it was) would be interested in making Prestige Sig SR's under your specs & license & name? They could market them to the segment that want a Rolls Royce camper. A few trips a year to make sure they are doing them correctly.

Paul, your idea for building custom SR's sounds really good to me. And if that co. is not interested, then perhaps another co. would be.

I don't think Bob would want the SR name associated with any product made by another company unless he was in control of its quality. After all, Snowriver is Bob Mehrer. The company he is referring to (probably pretty easy to guess which one) is probably able to produce a product to his satisfaction if they have the motivation to do so.

I think the market is there for an above average product that costs more, albeit small. It would be one way to keep the SR name alive.

Also ever consider taking your 2 best employees & building customized campers by special order? Might mean 4 months per camper, but prepaid & built to individual specs based on one of the 4 basic designs.
