Of course the jacks are up. You only make that mistake once in your life. I don't know about a "very seasoned TC" but more of an accomplished TC than I was 4 months ago. Thanks Jim for being proud of me. Couldn't have done it with out your help.

Glad things are coming together, Mar. I sure double check my jacks each time now, in fact I put a note on my steering wheel, since I often lower them.

Well its frustrating. A lot of stuff is in Cash Converters. I am waiting for the RCMP to seize and retrun it. I am trying to light a fire under them. Cash Converters sold about $5000 to $6000 worth of furniture the day after they acquired it, in plain contravention of the municipal bylaws which state they must hold them for 30 days. Soem of it is not replacable, such as a hnd carved table I bought in Malawi. I plan on suing them. I have still not received a decision on whether I am insured since the person who stole everything had free access to the house.

I bet it is frustrating, I assume a cash convetor is like a pawn shop here?

Cash Converters call themselves a second hand store, but they really are a pawn shop. They are an international chain that started in Perth, Australia. I am sure they must be in the US as well. They are in Europe and Canada.

Just curious

Down in the states, we'd say we were waiting for the cops to seize the stuff. Is the RCMP that special that they aren;t just given a generic name?

Actually, the RCMP or Royal Canadian Mounted Police provide police forces in every community in Canada that does not have its own. They are federal, but paid for by local taxes in the communties they serve. In the Vancouver area, they service several suburbs. Vancouver City has its own police as do a couple of suburban communities. I liove in Surrey, the largest Vancouver suburb in population, but it does not have its own police force. Port Moody one of the smallest suburbs, does. Go figure.

On a positve note they are seizing my stuff tommorrow. They are also levying a $100 fine for every item that was sold illegally before the 30 day period. This gives me a lot more leverage when I take them to court for damages.

The Cash Converters outlet that sold $6000 buck s of my stuff under the 30 day limit was fined about $1000 yesterday for it. That opens up the opportunity for me to sue them in small claims court. I will go for the $10,000 max.

I hope you kept receipts for everything Paul, you know how our legal system operates up here.......You will have to prove the 10K in damages.

A good fire bombing is so much more gratifying.

Paul, I just had a thought. Could you take them to small claims court for each big (expensive) item separately? The RCMP is apparantly ticketing as if each item is a separate act, so why can't you? Or you could just bundle the items into several suits. Just a thought.

No receipts. The perp threw them out, they were in the same file as the manuals which he wanted. Cash Converters had everything listed, however, and I have their printout, so do the police. I do have a reciept for the leather recliner, it was in another location from the others. One item was a hand carved side table from Malawi that I was given in a village there. No reciept for that of course, its irreplacable. I still have 2 of the 6 chairs from the dining set so they can see the quality of those. They were upstairs in storage since we only used 4. The treadmill is, well where can you get a treadmill for less than $1200? The other 3 side tables were worth $130 each so that is not unreasonable. I have a strong feeling I have a video of everything and it's in my dads safety deposit box. He is back from Europe on the 23rd. If so, the Malawi table will be in it.

I only want the value of the goods back and a couple extra grand for our trouble & pain. If the insurance pays out, then I can pay them back. The cop is all behind me in this. He wants to see them nailed. He will go to court for me.

Got news a couple of days ago that insurance will pay. The insurance company is looking at taking them to court. If they don't, i will.
