Good news, I secured the group site at Lightning lake in Manning Park (BC's most popular Govt campground) for the Aug 1st weekend. Only issue is that the site itself is tents only, so we have to sleep in our campers in the adjacent parking area. That should be no big deal, but if anyone participating on that stretch has stand-alone screen rooms, bring them along. I have one & I can likely borrow another. The site has beachfront. Fishing in the lake is good for small rainbow, (flies are best) but no motors, even electric are allowed, but we can row, what the heck. The lake is very cold & the fish out of there are very tasty. Canoe & kayak rentals are available there, plus some of us have boats. We will make sure we stop & get any licenses required. I recommend anyone wanting to fish get an annual license which is about $60 US for non -residents. We will have lots of fishing opportunities. We will also have to stock up on groceries as there is no store. There is an easy 4-5 hour hike up the chain of lakes (elev gain only 300 ft). These lakes are extremely pretty. This lake is at high altitude & it gets cold at night even in July. We cannot check in til 4 PM, so maybe we can take a side trip up the Fraser Canyon to Hells Gate that day, first.
