I was checking the specs of the new F-150. 5 L V8 motor, 4X4, regular cab, 8' box, = 3040 lbs. of payload! There are several hard-side campers that can be carried on that truck. That is what I'd get if I was just starting out.

I've got 2 trucks and 2 campers: Daily driver is a 2001 diesel Ram with a Travel Hawk bought  new 18 years ago. Winter driver for going south to escape the snow is a 2016 F-450 and an Arctic Fox 1140.

Look at the rear axle weight capacity and subtract the actual rear truck weight. That will be your limit for carrying a camper that is filled with water, propane and personal items.

I’ve learned my lesson well on this issue...
When it comes to loading up a truck camper and all the toys that go with it The first 4000 pounds of payload gets used up real, real quick.
After that things tend to level off.

The new F150 trucks (when properly configured) do indeed have some very impressive payload. :)

Remember "Payload" is higher than "slide in camper cert weight"

because of WHERE the weight is in relation to the tires.

Very nice equipment, BTW.
