We will be leaving end of next week on are long planed vacation to see my sister in Idaho. Started planing it in Dec. Sad part of the story was my nephew killed himself. Were going to go but she said to stay home and come up in the summer. She get's snowed in every year only way in or out with snow machines. Back to why I'm nuts finally got the trailer all packed. Extra water, extra batteries, extra propane, etc etc extra as well. Be taken our grandson, two cats, a Great Pyrenees and the three of us. All in the Adv-116DS. our route will be taken us from Texas thru New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, then Idaho. Trip back thru Nevada and California. Other family to see then straight home thru far south Arizona and New Mexico finally back to Texas. We made this trip 6 years ago. Glad my sister has a four wheel for us to get in the last mile the road is super bad and narrow with rock out crops. Think its really a horse trail.

Well think every thing is packed and put away in the TC. The trailer is all set, it's either strapped, tied, or welded so everything should ride. Lastly to load before we pull out of San Antonio is load a few days of food, our meds and get the grandson to get his clothes and such ready. Today I hooked the trailer up to the truck and ran a check on the lights. No trailer lights at all and when I put the right on both turn lights on the camper would blink. I was stumped for the trailer and truck each passed the inspection stations in the last month???? I was lucky it was a 20 min fix, the connector between the two a wire had come undone. Should be pulling out by 6pm its been a scorcher the last three weeks the coldest it had been down too is 92. Beginning to think were in Phoenix.

You should come up I35 and I29, and over on I80 or 90 and color in a few more states on your map!!
I have been a tent camper since my Boy Scout days long, long, ago. Now I need to get up off of the cold ground to get a good nights rest, a truck camper seems to be the best choice. I am here to learn as much as I can.

the route we took is the route we take bit of a hill clime but enjoyable grandson did drive the rig for about 800 miles in different conditions heavy winds in NM and AZ and TX light hill climbing and long straight away's didn't do to bad. He did better than I did over by Donnors pass area they had construction whats new to that a small group of us two rigs a car and us were going about 65 when we crested a hill and all hell broke lose the rigs had to hit there brakes hard the car change lanes in front of me as I was sliding with all 10 wheels locked up hard came with in 2 feet of slamming into the rig scared the xxxx out of me i need to change my shorts rest of the trip was going ok except the problems with the generator see Adventure under NATCOA Corporate Members where we needed to cut some of our time in Boise short. And East of San Diago I pulled in and the diesel pump was out of order I pulled out to turn around and use there other pump and I hit ther steel pipe protectiong the pumps with the trailer just in front of the tires thank god the trailer had a channel iron there it forced the trailer around the pipe so we didnt hit the pumps mainly just trading paint and getting a small dent in my tool box and folding the plate a little didnt have a chance to take many pictures mainly family.

One thing in my talks with Adventure and with Cummins there is a problem with the Onan Gen not thats anything wronge really with the Generators mainly the higher the altitude less the generator can put out also the out side temp will affect it. Example we were at or near 5000 feet and outside temps were 106 the 2500 gen was the same as a 2000 gen. the Onan 2500 generator is a 20 amp and the Adventure is a 30 amp need to play games to use the generator power as to what is powered with the A/C. We our thinking of removing the A/C from the circute and fixing it so I can either use it as it is or on our back up generator we bought. It runs on propane as well or gas.

You may just need to add a soft start circuit to your air conditioner so you do not get surges when the blower and compressor motors kick in. I also have to choose which high draw appliances I use when on generator - This was the same in the Arctic Fox and Host. When I had my toy hauler, I cranked up my 5500w Onan and ran anything I wanted at the same time off the internal 40 gallon fuel tank.

I put a hard start kit on my large new home Trane Heat Pump AC unit.  It was so bad it sounded like a lighting bolt striking under the back of the house.  Kit made a very big difference.  Well worth the investment..

It is a fancy surge suppressing capacitor and some also have a delay between the blower and compressor power feeds.

Found this out from Cummins the 2500 Oana generators at sea leavel are 2500 watts on LP at 5000 ft elevation it will lose about 10-15 percent of its power to produce elec. Then add the temp to the mix at 106 degrees will lose another 10-15 percent so now the poor little generator could only put out around 1800 watts on LP There is more to the story but I cant say as of yet.
