It’s funny how back then the manufacturers used to rate things.

I had a 1975 Ford F-250 4 x 4, GVW was 6500 lb.s and the truck empty on scale was slightly over 6,000 lb.s

It also had over load springs that barely touched with a ton of spuds in the back.

If memory serves me correct the GAW front was 3350 lbs and the rear ? 6,000 lb. ?

Weigh the truck front and back and read the axle weight tags, like you did.

Just a bit of trivia truck was factory ordered standard cab long box, 4 sp. manual, air con. $4,800 can. Plus tax
