Does anyone have an Eagle Cap 850 camper (newer)?

We have been dreaming of the Adventurer 116ds but Saturday we looked at the smaller E.C. 850 and really liked it. It had a right hand side slide.  Even being 5 inches shorter than the camper we have now, there was way more storage inside and outside. Price wise the 850 is much lower than the big 116 of course. That is more in our spending range in reality. The 850 is made for short or long bed and the center of gravity would work for my truck. It would sit just like the camper we have now on the truck.

Any feedback for that specific model out there? I did see a couple things I would like to change in that model but they were minimal.

Eagle Cap has had the details of this model off their site for a while. Are you sure they are still selling it or it is going through revisions?

The EC850 has the same layout as the AF811 we owned. We would have preferred a U-shaped dinette over a booth to make seating more versatile. If I remember correctly, the EC850 had holding tank capacity that was larger than my AF811, but I do not remember if they used 20 lb LPG or 30 lp LPG cylinders (AF uses 30lb). Arctic Fox should be on your list if you like the Eagle Cap layout.

Adventurer has the 86SBS and 89RBS. These are left slides which are less convenient than having them on the right, but may be models to also review.

Lance has the 855S. If you have an aversion having the refrigerator in the slide, this model has similar layout to the EC850 but with a fixed fridge. The last time I looked at this model, it had the smallest capacities for 9' single slide.

If you're willing to go to dual slide, check out the Host Rainier 9.5 for the long bed. It will hang off the rear about as much as your current camper but give you much more room and that big rear window you like.

We looked at the e.c. 850 at a dealership last Saturday. Found out a little bit ago that if using on long bed we can't have the generator storage box. All the outside storage is what we liked. Bummer.

That is correct on all the models of this length made for a long bed - You lose the skirt storage.

Arctic Fox has a long storage compartment drawer under the floor that could probably fit an Easy-Up awning and a carpeted external storage compartment that reaches under one dinette seats.

The Host Rainier had a storage area like my Mammoth but is 2' shorter.

I will keep looking. We never gave the shorter models a thought even though we own one. The newer models are much better layout and storage.

The EC 852 model is available for 2018 and shown on their website.

I don't know about the Schwintek slide out mechanism though.  I would question them carefully about that to see if they're still using it.

A lot of manufacturer's have not been up to snuff when it comes to the precision needed to build a slide box and opening that would work properly with Schwintek.  I would tread very carefully here.

It looks like the Eagle Cap and Arctic Fox share the same storage. EC uses dual 20 lb cylinders verses AF's dual 30 lb.

If you want rear wing storage, you have to look at the 10' models or larger for your long bed.
