Been thinking of getting a new TC. Went to ProncessCraft to kick the doors so to speak. Looked at the EC-1200 it looks better on the web than in person I thought. But over all I liked it, yet the shower pan I saw a big flaw. Dont move to much or yhe curtain will be pushed out and water could get out on the floor. Yet the EC-1200 and EC-1165 both are pushing 5800 wet. Yet the Host Mammoth was in the running same fault 5600+. They needed a diet, Then along comes Adventure 116 DS pushing in near 5000 wet even with the weight of the trailer hitch I'm just a little over my limit. What to do or can I ???

Buy a bigger truck or a smaller/lighter camper. When I bought my Lance 1191 back in 2006 no 1 ton's being built could handle the campers weight. So I bought an F-550 which handles the camper very nicely.

1st you pick a camper, then you buy a truck that will haul it, then you buy the camper.

Good Luck on your search.

That's what I had to do. I could not afford to do this all at once, so my little Arctic Fox 811 was carried on my Ram 5500 for two years until I could save up for the Host Mammoth.

Just on payload alone the Adv 116 DS and the tongue weight of my trailer I'm a little over. Do have a weight distribution hitch on the trailer. It would take all the tricks to be ok and that may put me over by 200lbs

Your AAM axle is rated for about 11K lbs and your rear wheel capacity is north of 10K lbs. What does the truck rear weigh when empty, 3500 lbs? You should have about 6500 lbs of rear payload capacity. At that weight you may need to add more leaf springs and heavier dampened shocks, but not much else.

Ahhh, the Adventurer 116DS is the camper we would love to get. No step up to the slides, the floor level is over the bed rail. Not even much of a step up into the cab over with the king sized bed. All that holds us back is...money.

love everyday like you won the lotto.

Your right Pete with the setup I have could handle the Adventure the best. At 5133lbs wet then gear, food and tongue weight I can do it. The 1165 wet weight is at 6034 by the time I got to the trailer tongue I be hitting 8k.

Financing has to go through first, had to move on it found others but as soon as I found them they sold that fast. Or they low balled on the trade-in. Yes that's how they make there money. But not on me, the replacing of the roof was more than they offered at on dealer in Idaho. Then I found two at once a 2016 and a 2017 liked the 16 but when I went back they had sold it. Yet the 17 had all the bells and then some.116DS6ds00001.JPG

Well the deal on the Adv 116DS back east fell apart couldnt come to terms. So close but you know it only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Didn't stop us, on the 18th next month will be picking up the new 116Ds TC in Lewiston, ID. Will be seeing my sister in Boise first.

No they wanted us to head up not knowing if they could or could not buy the AF-990 because all we had was a bill of sale from Tom's Camper Land. So we knew that in Ohio there was one with all the goodies on it. and 8k more. Sence we were already on the road did a u-turn and head north east. We were still in San Antonio so the change of direction was no big deal. So far we just love the TC even for its not to good of thought of some items. 1) there are three and a half 110 outlets. 2) only one 12v plug 3) No USB outlets at all. 4) and the biggest of all the generator is under sized for this size camper it should have a 4000 watt gen.  I will explane the problem you can have the A/C-on ref-on that's it want the coffee pot on put the ref on propane cross your fingers that the gen don't trip. Or Want toast agin switch the ref to propane can then make toast. Want to have microwave popcorn put everything on propane switch off the A/C then you can have the popcorn and make your toast and have a cup of joe. Yet on shore power everything works great. I've already told Adventure they should have installed the onan 4000 its about 10% larger and 115 lbs heaver sure it can be converted to propane as the 2500 is. So the first upgrade I have to do at home is install the 5000 watt envert thats in my garage at home there I can run plugs out to the kitchen for the coffee pot/ref/micrwave then on the island a plug for the Ice maker or toster

If you have dedicated outlet runs to your inverter, you can definitely balance the load out. Plugging in your counter top appliances into the inverter will work whether you run the generator or are on shore power. In my camper, there are three outlets powered by a PSW 1000w inverter allowing me to use regular AC powered TV's and run my cellular/WiFi hotspot.

My on board Onan has no problem running the convection/microwave while running the air conditioner, but you probably have a different size and model AC. You may be able to add a soft start kit to the your AC to make things work better.

As you pointed out, running the fridge on electric while running the generator takes away some of the capacity - Also make sure you do not have the electric water heater element turned on.
