Going out to our land in mid May be checking it out where to place the new house we will be putting there. Since its a hillside lot need to look at my options. The front of the lot only 200 feet from the Osage River and no one can build on that section for its too small even for a shed. May say we have river front land almost? Have to cut our way into the lot for you cant see the forest because of the trees. Will be dry camping for sure, really need to get the trailer finished now water proofing it now.

From what I seen already the land has a slope in two directions easy way to build is to make a basement and use it for the garage's and shop. House we plan on building is 56 x 32 + 7 porch. This will be our sixth house we have built. One we our in now  two we have sold, one we tore down and used it in one of the others we were tired of getting flooded out. Then the one were not allowed to close on due to the bank going belly up just before closing. It will be a defferant kind of build no septic system no water no elec. The TC and trailer will be the hart of things for awile. Its looking as a split level foundation and cinder block construction at least the TC and trailer will have there own bay also the truck and car. About 2100 cinder blocks, lots of morter and rebar.

We have been back for three weeks. Murphy's Law was in full effect for us on this trip. Just left Dallas TX when we lost the tread on the right front pealed like a orange so we limped back to a tire shop. 275 dollers later the truck had a new shoe on. It seemed to rain every three days. Found the property, but it couldnt hold our weight I saw that. It was after the office closed so we went to the RV park (water and elec) 5$ a night. It was out in no where had to go over a bridge with a 3 ton weight limit, think I was over that. Twice a Day we went over that bridge for the week. 2nd day there we stopped by the office of the HOA for the land and RV park and paid for the week and asked about the road. They said it be ok the drive on it. its gravel base. They kept saying its ok, back went to the road and dropped the chain started in slow. I felt the front tires start to snik. Well I was right Stuck in the mud so the next ten min of rocking the truck and TC I managed to get the rear tires on solid ground no thanks too the office and the 8% grade i was on. By mid week did manage to walk in and look things over. The lot was not build able at this time unless the road was really worked on and they were not going to do it till house was way on its way being built.

So we bought a map of the area of the neighborhood 180 miles of dirt roads and off we went looking at land, Most of what we could swap for may never be bought. They were either had to much up or down slope on them. Or the road in was like 10% grade and no other way in or out. Did find three that were ok but the last one was perfect. Top of a hill road was gravel for years so it had a very good base. It was nearly level about 7ft over 600ft and most of the brush had been removed where we wanted it removed. So we called the ones we were buying from and we were allowed to swap land. We made out like a bandit.

On our way back to the RV park we were run off the road a bigger truck than mine came over into our lane on a curve, if there were a fly on the jack it would of been swated. Next day had to stay in the TC due to rain again. Our last day there we found the front property markers, didnt have time to find the other three.

On the way home on a back country rd a trailer had lost its fender a black fender on a black rd in a very shaded area. All I had time for was change lanes fast sence no one was coming best thing I could do. Found the people the fender belonged to told him were it was and the shape was not the same any more the rear tires flatten it a little no damage to the truck or TC.

In all we enjoyed our self's only thing happen to the TC was the door fell off the medicen cabnit.

If he's part of your family, we must be related, because I know he's part of our's! Where is this land, near the Lake of the Ozarks?

Looks like it might be some nice country. It would be interesting to see some pictures, once you get started. Murphy must have moved-on after the tire incident. Several of the rest of those events you described could have ended very badly!
