Guess I should check in here more often.  Now I know to leave my clubs in the truck.  Rain does not stop golf on this side of the mountains, George.  We plan to be there mid afternoon.  Debating the burgers and bingo, if still an option.  Of course, beer and fire work just as well.

Highway 5 near from Boeing field to downtown Seattle will be closed for a short period tonight (Friday).

President Obama will be in town and his motorcade security detail makes a mess of traffic whenever that happens.

Sooooo. . .Friday night rush hour will be a camper's worst nightmare.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for the gathering. We had 11 rigs total in the end. It was fantastic to see everyone once again, some that it has been a few years since last meeting up.
Of course I'll have a trip report published soon.

We had a great time, too, even though I had an unexpected early departure. Hope everyone had a safe trip home. It was great seeing everyone once again, especially Carol. :-)

The interstate system of highways is fine for getting where you need to be in a hurry, but it's the road less traveled that is more enjoyable. Take in the scenery before life passes you by in a blur.

Had a great time.  As always the potluck was fantastic food supplied by those attending.

I had to stay up until 1230 AM Monday morning by myself to burn all the wood I brought and that doesn't include the wood in the Jeep's rear hitch basket when Sally had to bail Sunday AM for a family emergency.

OK:

2lb butternut squash cut into 2" pieces

same amount of sweet potatoes cut into 1" pieces and blanched in hot water for 3-4 min

Spray these with oil and roast in 400 degree oven for 35-40min, turning every 10min.

Black parts on potatoes are ok

Cut up 3 leeks and 1/2 onion (just white/light green on the leeks) and saute in 1-2tbsp coconut oil until light brown

Add 4 cans of chicken stock (low sodium), several sprigs of thyme, 1/2 tsp pepper, and the roasted veggies

Add 1-2 chopped apples of your choice (optional)

Bring this to a boil and turn off. Cover overnight on stove or in frig, your choice.

In AM add Half & Half about 1-2c and puree (remove thyme first). Use more broth or 1/2 & 1/2 until desired consistency

Heat in crock pot over day and serve

I like to use bacon bits and sour cream/yogurt for a garnish. Adventuresome people can saute the onion in the bacon grease instead of the coconut oil.

Serve with garlic croutons or frest bread of choice.

We have also used 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar to brighten the flavor before serving.

Enjoy!

Now that you have the secret we'll have to come up with a different soup for the next adventure.
