Then this.

Thanks for getting back to me.....Just asking about it to make sure it’s in
good condition. So can you assure me i will not be disappointed? Well am

And does it has any dent on it or anything?
How much will you re duct from your advert price?

Thanks for the warning. Its not just things like that but also thieves and freaks. Craiglist can be very useful if you can weed out all the other stuff.

I usually put directions in the add to weed out the people who don't actualy want to buy my stuff. Often flat out state "reply to the ad with your phone number or I will not respond". Usually people who are afraid/offended at that are just tire kickers anyway. I also only accept cash in hand deals and always have two receipts that plainly state "as is where is, no warranties" with both parties signatures on each copy. One for me and one for the buyer.

There are those that brows our listings and our temp members for that email address looks a lot like the one I got 4 months ago on my generator I have for sale even sounds like it. They wanted be me to take a paypal and there transporter agent would pick it up. I instead on cash only that went on for two or three more messages then nothing. Think we need to have the messages redirected throught our mail box here at the forum so we all can track the scamers and exchange notes? By the way I still have the generator for sale.

I get something like that looking for parts for trucks at my work occasionally. I know its a scam but sometimes I play along and waste their time in a long drawn out process just because its fun. plus...im paid while doing it. they dont call again for several months.

This is known as the shipper scam. A good clue is the email address, they always use gmail or soemthign like that.

Best way to protect is to only sell locally or to somebody willing to come in person.

I posted a trailer for sale on craigslist once.  I got solicitations from  women all the time up to 30-50 a day every day.  And they refered to the trailer add in their reply to me for the add.  Example. in a sexy way.  hey like your trailer add I'd like to kick your tires and ride your trailer.    or  ohhh i'd like to grab your hard rails on your trailer and give it a test ride. They send a sexy photo too.  Always responding to the trailer but offering something else.

Now I know I'm irresistible but come on Craigslist.  I contacted Craigslist and they said it was my problem and they wouldn't be helping me.

Its been about 6 months and they have finally stopped.  My email provider said I might have to change my email address but we chose to wait and see if they would stop.  Glad they did.

So beware of craigslist everyone.  I never got a single legit response to the trailer.

yep, have to be careful for sure. sometimes you get what you pay for (craigslist=free) but craigslist can be very useful and easy to use at times.
