Friday night will be an "Epluchette de Ble D'Inde", or a Corn Boil. This French Canadian or Acadian tradition is an outdoor harvest celebration.   I'll provide the corn and a milder pot of chili, but we could use some sides of either hot dogs or buns or sandwiches, salads and fruit salads.  Can you reply with what you will provide please?

Saturday night potluck I plan on making a Moroccan tagine (type of stew)- I would love to use lamb in it, but I know many people don't like lamb, so it will probably be a chicken tagine.  Please indicate what kind of item you will be contributing.

Correction on the timing for the Zip line.  It is for 3:30 on Saturday afternoon and not 2:30.

I'm hyped and can't wait for you all to arrive!!

Wendy

Wendy, have to wait until we across the pond and see what y'all have in the stores up there. We are fine with lamb.

just relaxing now, after a busy sat.

2.5 hours of geocashing

then 2 hours of zip lining.

a great pot luck dinner

then an life experience chat around the campfire  ( propane )

a bit afraid to go to sleep as the joints may feel a bit stiff tomorrow morning.

a well worth it experience for all involved

A big thank-you Wendy for putting this rally on

Great job, Wendy and Chris!  We had a lot of fun.  Rick, Susanne, Gary and Linda, always good to see you.  Nice to meet you Kelsey and Jamelia.  Hope to see you down the road again,  Food was great as always.  Ziplining was awesome.  Geocacheing was a nice walk in the park, even if we had to come in second.  It was too bad Rick did not get to make a landmark fire, but huddling around the propane fire was more cozy.  And I'll be enjoying Stick-In-The-Mud for months to come.

Thanks for the experience!

Jamelia and I would like to thank everyone for making our first truck camper rally a fantastic time.  We laughed and ate to our hearts content and just when we think it can't get any better there's geocaching and zip lining to do.  We will definitely be trying to get to some more rally's in the future.

Till next time,

Kelsey and Jamelia (WestCoast1969)

Sunday afternoon it was down to Garry and Linda and Chris and I. Linda and I decided to take the 3 golden retrievers for a walk along Sooke River trail. Freya decided to do a nose dive 5 ft down an eroded embankment into thick mud trying to get to the river, and she started panicking when she couldn't get back up. Linda had to scramble down amidst the blackberry bushes to rescue Freya. The were both head to toe covered in mud. Damn, I didn't being the camera (Linda although was quite happy that I didn't have it. Between the 2 of us, we got Freya and Linda pulled back up, and we all went into the river to clean up a little farther downstream! As Linda put it, it was one of those "golden" moments. Good laughs.
We had a forum lurker drive from Victoria Sunday afternoon to see what a rally was all about, so we talked up how great Natcoa is, and gave them a brochure. I think he might be interested in Fall Colors!

It was a fabulous weekend with you all, it's always great to meet old friends and make new ones. Thank you all for being so easy to please!!!

And yes, I am toying with the idea of organizing a Hot Springs Tour caravan through southern BC, maybe in 2016.

Thanks, Wendy, for hosting the Vancouver Island Rally and for answering questions for the potential member. Your efforts are very much appreciated!

The interstate system of highways is fine for getting where you need to be in a hurry, but it's the road less traveled that is more enjoyable. Take in the scenery before life passes you by in a blur.

Wendy it was a pleasure meeting you and your partner in Campbell River. You gave me a lot of good starter info, this site included! Hope your late summer ends up going well and this rally you're organizing. If you are in Port Ed drop by the old church on Harbourview and checkout our new(to us) camper. Maybe some coffee ands.....
