Hi Wendy
Will let you know, probably by June.
May be doing a job change next week.
May effect holiday dates.
Or I could quit and take the summer off, then I'll have lots of time.

I will not be attending after all. I will have a TT by then and the ferry fares with all that length are too much of  a hit.

The campground is about 15 minutes away from a great meadery (honey wine).  Was wondering if there is any interest in getting a group together for a tasting at their farm?  Here is a link to their website.  http://tugwellcreekfarm.com

Okay, time to start shaking the tree on this topic.  I have the following confirmed and reserved into the campground :

Robin & Clare:  smokeypointer from Washington

Kelsey & partner:  WestCoast1969 from BC

Rick & Suzanne:  Farmer from BC

Garry & Linda:  red green from BC

Wendy & Chris:  Wendy from BC

I had registrations but no confirmation from:

Lyle & partner:  Blackmaxx from Alberta

Russ and family:  GAKDOOM from Washington

Let's see if we can't get a few more truck campers interested in joining us.  I am still pursuing the Zipline/Whale Watching/Kayaking group rates (all within a 10 minute drive of the campground).  I think the Geocaching will probably be 2 teams competing (Garry I could use your thoughts and maybe help on the best way to do this event).  So far we are still allowed the group fire (no ban as of yet).  I am working with a local t-shirt shop on a t-shirt for purchase.  I mentioned a couple of posts up the possibility of visiting Tugwell Creek Farm and Meadery for a wine tasting (15 minute drive) but no one has responded.  Maybe I can sweet talk Tugwell Creek into bringing a tasting to us in the campground?

It looks like we will be a small group despite advertising on Truck Camper Magazine and on RV.net.  Unfortunately we have had 3 cancellations.  I can still hope for last minute campers.  Never mind, we'll have fun.  So here are the attendees.

Robin & Clare:  smokeypointer from Washington

Kelsey & partner:  WestCoast1969 from BC

Rick & Suzanne:  Farmer from BC

Garry & Linda:  red green from BC

Wendy & Chris:  Wendy from BC

red green gets the prize for travelling the farthest, smokeypointer for coming from out of country and WestCoast 1969 will be attending their first rally!

- I will provide the corn and organize a corn on the cob feast for Friday evening as a meet and greet. 2 team assignments for the geocaching will be handed out at this time.  You have the weekend to complete the assignments.

- The whale watching is booked for Saturday morning 10 a.m.  Check in time is 9:30.  I will provide transportation to the event.

- Next up will be the Zipline Saturday afternoon which is booked for 2:30 p.m.  The zipline actually finishes at The 17 Mile Pub, so for those that want to celebrate their courage on the zipline with a brew let me know.  I will also be providing the transportation for this event.

- Saturday night will be the potluck.

- Sunday morning Chris and I will host a pancake breakfast.  We have the use of a clubhouse and kitchen right beside our group area.

Our camp spots are circled around a group fire pit.  At this point we are still under a fire ban, but we will have the use of a propane fire bowl if we aren't allowed a campfire.

If anyone needs to rent a kayak or bicycle please let me know.

For those checking in on Thursday 21 August you might want to check out the Sooke Night Market which is held Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Sooke Regional Museum grounds.  Food, arts and crafts and fresh veggies for sale.  This is a 5 minute walk from the campground.  The Sooke Museum is also well worth a visit.  Right beside the museum is the Seaparc sports complex with arena, a great pool, hot tub and sauna.

Can you please give me a rough idea of your estimated time of arrivals are?

As we are such a small group I will not order T-shirts.

I have just noticed a special on the BC Ferries website (copy and pasted below), and if you fit into their small window of opportunity, take advantage of it.

"Only 4 weeks left to save over 66% per additional foot on extra-length passenger vehicles.

Until September 6, pay only $2 per additional foot (reg. $6.10) on passenger vehicles that are over 20 feet in length.

Valid on the following 2 routes:

  • Metro Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay)
  • Metro Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Nanaimo (Duke Point)

Offer is valid Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting at 4 pm. Some restrictions apply."

See you all real soon.

Sounds like a good group of campers (but aren't we all?) Have fun and hope the weather is nice. Make sure Rick has his fire poker with him. Its the envy of many a campfire attendee.
