I'm thinking of replacing my Snowriver. Wife hates it when I start thinking :happy0045:  The Artic Fox 990 looks like a well made camper. Looking for any information that anyone can give me on them? Thanks for any information I can get .

I have a 2001, wood frame 990.  There are two conversations that can take place here.

First, from the standpoint is one about fit, finish, construction.

Second, from the standpoint about convenience, usability, obstructions, barriers, etc..

After digging through/in, crawling behind, reaching through, attaching to, observing/maintaining the.. bla bla, the opinion is that the AF is really put together well.  From a 'thought' and 'craftsmanship' opinion it pleases the picky-man' nature.  It is a rock solid creation.   I'm speaking only on the wood framed unit and don't know about he post 2005 "Silver" models that are aluminum framed.

Now to the second standpoint.  THE SHOWER.  We actually considered selling our new-to-us AF for a couple of quirky reasons involving this.

We both found the wet bath hard to enter/leave.  The floor of the bath is a FOOT higher than the camper's floor.  It seems a unnatural move to stand outside the shower at a 90 degrees angle to it, put your foot into the shower a foot higher, and move yourself up and though a narrow door.  Quirky? Yes, for us it was.   We solved this problem by building a carpeted, wooden box/step, that become a entrance platform just outside the shower door.

As said, it's heavy.  But considering from what your are considering moving, it's probably a parallel move.

My summary?  I'd rather the even heavier, 1150 because of 1) a dry bath at the camper's floor level, and 2) A bigger hanging clothes closet next to the fridge.   Other than that, they are identical in other respects.

My step-up box.

Was one of my 2 choices way back when.

And Paul said the new ones are better.

Take a trip down to their factory.

Thank you all for your input. If I were to get a camper it would be new. I know the post was started with artic Fox but would like input on any other brand that anyone is really happy with.

Thanks

I really like my 2001 990. It is very heavy. The things that I like the most are 1st class customer service, the wet bath as I like the way the toilet is positioned, near the outside wall instead of beside the door, the basement that makes for a short step up into the bed,the full wall slide appears to have a wider dinette than I had before. You wont be disappointed.

The newer 990s come with a step for the wet bath. Like mine! Good quality, solid, and a warranty second to none.

You could do worse.

What is it about the snow river that makes you want to change to a different brand?

I don't have a 990, but I do have an 1140. Different floor plan and larger than the 990, but built by the same people. By far its the "best built" RV that Ive owned. This is my 4th RV. Just a few very minor issues to address since I bought it new. So far also the most trouble free RV that I've owned, and thats been a real big pleasure to experience.
