George and Vi Chambers have been natcoa supporters and friends of natcoa since the inception. I got a call from one of George's great friends who informed me that George had passed away last night about 11:00. George had some health issues, but it was unexpectedly sudden and somewhat of a shock.

I know several members knew George and Vi, and were aware of what wonderful people they are, and how kind and helpful George was with anything or anybody he was associated with. He was a super individual, always ready to help, and point people in the right direction.

So, with a heavy heart, we say goodbye to George, and send our love on to Vi during this difficult time in her life, saying goodbye to her wonderful partner of many years.

It was a pleasure and an honor to know George, and he will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear of his sudden departure. I knew he had health problems but no idea that it was so imminent. Sandy and I want to express our sincere love for Vi and all of his family. Having visited with him at his home, at rallys and over the phone on many occasions, he will surely be missed. Jim

I copied my post from FB.

Heavy heart today for I have lost a dear friend last night. I've known George for 6 yrs through the Truck Camper Club and finally got to meet face to face last year when I moved back to the Pacific Northwest. At our first meeting he gave me a small token he made, a key rack to hang in my TC. I took it home and kept it safe in a drawer until I could give it a new home. Over the year we had a few breakfast/lunch dates with the club and talked about all the fun they've had, upcoming events and how we couldn't wait to camp together. Less than a month ago we got our TC and his gift now had a new home. I sent him a picture but still couldn't wait to show him in person. I'm sad to say he will only be with me in spirit now. Goodbye George! I miss you already.

To you Vi, my heart breaks and I want you to know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

George has always been one of my favorite NATCOA members. He is one of the originals. I remember fondly visiting him & Vi at his cabin in ION and the times we spent on Rallies and at the Ogallala shows. He always had a smile on his face and nothing ever seemed to bother him. To say I am shocked, and saddened, is an understatement.

I suggest to the board that they grant Vi a lifetime membership if she is still interested in camping.

Paul, I would ask that you shut the forum down for a day with a page tribute to this great truck camper camper.
For those that never met George, he was one of the best of the best. George always maintained a positive attitude and could find the best in everyone.
If any life ever seemed untroubled and happy, it seemed to be his.

I know this.... when i met george he was the one that got me more active in natcoa. The best thing i can do is move forward and continue to promote this club. He wanted me to keep up the gatherings around here even if he couldnt make it. He will be forever remembered and missed.
Just another reason to cherish the times we have when we all get together as things like this are an unfortunate part of life as sad as that may be.
Every time i head out of the camper i will see the key hanger he made, reminding me of how lucky i was to have known him.

love everyday like you won the lotto.

We finally met George at the Montana rally this year.Hehad heard that we had bought a Snowriver camper. He presented us with a key holder & a spice rack for our camper .We sat with him at the potluck dinner & were just getting to know what a great guy he was; what a terrible shock and sadness to hear of his passing. He was so talented and showed us all the wonderful modifications he had made in his camper and gave us such great ideas for ours. Not having a chance to meet Vi, we send her and the family our prayers. We will truly miss him. Kurt & Carol Luke

I am so saddened to hear of George's passing. He has been a special friend to me and I'll never forget meeting him for the first time at the Spring Rally at Potholes many years ago. Now my key rack and other goodies he has given out over the years will be even more treasured. He will truly be missed. My heart breaks for Vi on her loss.

The interstate system of highways is fine for getting where you need to be in a hurry, but it's the road less traveled that is more enjoyable. Take in the scenery before life passes you by in a blur.

It is not about the trucks, campers, tie-downs, or anything else we all use to truckcamp. Those are just tools that add comfort and ease to the process. It is about the people that love this lifestyle and the freedom to explore and see the things that so many never get to. It is about people like George and Vi and most of all the memories we all will have long after we finish exploring the trails of this beautiful world we have. George would want those memories to continue for all and share those stories with each other right here on NATCOA so each of us can develop new dreams to come and sharing those dreams as they come to be with each other.
Rest in peace my friend, we will continue to build those precious memories and think of you often.

We met George at the Montana rally. Our first outing in the truck camper. We were lucky to have him as a neighbor for those few days at Lake V resort. He was extremely helpful and patient with all my newbie questions. How sad it is to read this news this morning. I hope to see you again my friend at the great campground in the sky.
