entry fee to g.n.p. link: http://www.nps.gov/g...trance-fees.htm

you must call the resort and make your reservations after you have signed up for the rally. they dont use email so you have to call. they are in off season until april but still check the voice mails. so be sure to leave a message and they will get back to you.
we get a 10% discount off the rates for the rally.

on thursday the 11th we will meet and greet. people get to the campground through out the day so nothing is formally scheduled on thursday. we will just gather and mingle at will.

friday morning the 12th for those interested we will do a hike to avalanche lake with in glacier national park. entry fee to the national park is required. we will do a ranger led hike that starts at 9:00 am at the trail head. those that can "truck" pool to the trail head will be helpful. there is limited parking at the trailhead.
here is some information about the hike:

Discover how the power of water and other

geologic forces have shaped this unique

environment on the way to glimmering Avalanche

Lake. This hike gains 500 feet over 2 miles.

Participants should wear hiking shoes and bring

water and a snack or lunch to enjoy at the

lake. Meet at the roadside parking lot on the

Going to the Sun Road across from Avalanche

Campground.

4 miles (6.4km) - 3½ hours

friday evening we will have some music and karoake for those who wish to show off their talents.

on saturday morning we will have a red bus tour. i have 2 buses reserved for us. the tour will be the western alpine tour. it starts at lake mcdonald lodge and goes to the top of the going to the sun road. it then returns back to the lodge. its about a 3 hour tour. we will caravan to lake mcdonald lodge to meet the red buses. the buses leave promptly at 9:30am. the cost for the tour is $33.12 per seat. if you wish to go on the tour please send me a message with how many seats you would like. i have to take pre-payment for the tour. paypal works well with transfering funds. if you dont wish to use paypal we can make other arrangments. each bus holds 17 passengers. the seats are reserved for you first come first served. here is a link with some information on the red bus tour: http://www.glacierpa...detail.php?id=1

good question. i tried to figure that out but could not when i was there. there are some things left over from the years past. like, they use to have garbage cans halfway in the ground but dont anymore.
speaking of which (garbage) they will have a few cans out in our area for us. they have to get dumped every night. they have had a bear or two come through the campground. there is a dumpster by the lodge.

with you i believe thats 5 spots reserved already.

Hey guys. I had to come back over here just to see if my login in and what-not still work. I haven't paid up for a few years. Looks like that long running argument about how and if to limit non-member users came down to "post 10 times per day" as I see that marked for me!

In any case - I am really looking forward to the summer's trip and hooking up with all you guys.

I'm in H-22.

:) Yep! We decided everything looks forested enough and all the sites look nice. we might as well be close to the gathering area.

It's going to be fun. Any excuse to get up there is a good one! Now I get to day dream up a travel plan to bookend the stay in Glacier. We have a pretty big hole in the middle of Idaho.....and it's been a while since I've been to Yaak. Plenty of choices up there but I'm not used to going in July when things are more crowded.

Who came the furthest last year? Indiana? SoCal? East coast?

it would be great to actually meet you in person. they do have cabins there at the campground. all they are though is a room with a bed. its a place to sleep though. they have a couple cabins right next to the bathrooms over by the area we will be at. im sure i could be talked into letting you use one of my grills while you are there so you can cook something.

Dan

Ill see what i can find. I can tell you its a high tourist time so making a hotel reservation very soon would be advised. Ill see what i can kick up. Not a whole lot of choices real close by. Maybe staying in apgar in glacier at a hotel?

Rich can you call and see how much for a cabin at the lodge with 2 beds if possible for me please..you seem to have a good repore with them.....

dan,

the lodging rates are on the high side for right around west glacier as you would imagine. the choices are few also. there are far more choices in columbia falls and into kalispell. kalispell is 30-35 miles away, with columbia falls being closer. i did find a motel in hungry horse. hungry horse is about 10 miles from the rally campground. link to motel: http://www.hungryhorselodging.com/

again, check availablitity as its high tourist season. you may want to make reservations asap.

i will contact glacier campground about a cabin later today also. we stayed in one on our visit a few weeks ago to check the place out. its just a room with a bed but it was clean.

love everyday like you won the lotto.

At this point i'll say count us in. But before I can say for sure will have to see if I can get those days off and work a trip around it. Its about a 30 hr drive for us counting rest breaks. Our trip to Yellowstone this year showed us about what the time it take is. From there head over to Roseburg Oregon. Looks like another grand circle again. Or should I say 7k road trip.
