Sorry to hear of the accident Paul. A person never knows how special it is to have grandchildren untill they have their own. You practically care and worry more for them then anything else.
Thoughts and prayers

Hi Paul
We are sending good thoughts your way.
Many years ago our daughter spent 53 days at children's hospital.
They are one of the best places for kids.
One of my best friends daughter now works there full time.
Kids heal a lot faster then us old guys.

Well my friend & I drove to Merrit today to recover all the stuff. The RCMP up there are great, they had already driven to the lake he was camped & bought back all his stuff & the boat. I went to look at the car, what a mess. Apparently they had pulled over to look at some horses and he had moved her to the front so he could talk to her when it happened. They were stationary and the truck must have been moving to cause the amount of danger to that car. Mind you an F35O vs a Hyundai sonata is not much of a contest. She is still pretty much unconscious, but they are keeping her that way. The surgeon is probably going to rebuild her jaw tomorrow, depending. The tribal elder (looks like Chief Dan George) came in this eve & did a healing ceremony (My daughter in law is Indian). It was weird, she reacted when he waved his hand over her. I'm not superstitious, but it was strange.

Took the camper over for them to sleep in. $120 a week for serviced RV Parking at the hospital. Not bad.

Paul, I have a lot of faith in those healers. I have seen some real miracles. Medical science says it can't happen but it does. I say don't try to understand or explain, just believe.

It was weird, he told us she had a guardian angel & hinted it was my wife's mother. Oddly enough my wife's mother died of cancer a few days after she was born. She was over 3 months premature and my mother in law saw her once, in an incubator, when it was very touch & go.

I hope everything turns out OK for her, the family and you. I do know what you mean by "it was weird". I am part Indian and have been to some ceremonies and weird things and feelings tend to happen. Don’t try to explain it, just roll with it.

That looks like about 35 mph give or take, anything faster and that engine compartment would have been in the cab space on the Sonata, so definitely guardian angel working overtime there!

Thanks she is in surgery right now. The throat specialist is looking at her first, they are concerned because she has not made any sounds and think her larynx may be damaged. Hopefully its just swelling since her neck was clobbered. Once he has done his thing, the surgeon will start repairing her jaw. She got delayed from this afternoon, because another kid was bought in critical shape. I used be the phone guy for Peace Arch hospital in White Rock, which is a pretty large one, & I saw some some pretty ugly stuff, but it was nothing like this place. I don't know how people working here handle it, all those sick kids.

Well she came out of surgery, no damage to the larynx, considerable damage to the jaw, but the plastic surgeon expects her to make a full recovery becasue of her age. Maybe some orthodontic work later, but being of mixed race she would probably require that anyway. I was wondering if I would make the fall colors since her parents are using the camper, but she should be home before that. I can't say enough good things about Children's Hospital.

It makes them work even harder, to join the battle, to win the unwinable.
God bless that little girl and all the children passing through those doors.

I'm so happy to hear they are doing better. Having a camper close to the hospital sure is better than a hotel room four or five miles away at $$$$. Keep the faith; they'll be better soon.

Well an update, they took out the breathing tube and bought her out of the induced coma. She can speak a little (as well as possible with your jaw wired shut). Good enough to see there is no apparent loss of brain function. She wants to go home.
