about 5 days. Our old host took us down because we were supposedly causing overloads, so we bit the bullet & moved it to a Virtual private Server. Since it is a raw server without anything fancy on it or support, Matt had to do the configuration. It was over my head. It will cost us about an extra $15 a month, but since it is not shared with any other customers, it should be faster and more secure from hacking. I just looked at the logs and we so far are not showing the query backups & errors we were getting on the other server that was likely slowing it down. I found out they were capping our RAM at 24 meg, when the recommended overhead for php5 is 124 meg. We have 350 here, although I currently have it capped at 125. Unless Mathew changed it.

We are leaving all our other sites on the old host as it has unlimited bandwidth & storage whereas this one does not. However we are well under our limit, even with the gallery. It's also not a bad idea to keep the forum separate. It's more secure from hackers. We might move the ads site here if it starts to cause issues back on the old one, but so far it has not.

One benefit also of going to the VPS is that while we have a limit of 500 GBs of bandwith a month, the speed at which we send/recieve said data is not limited.

It could also just be service load. I will say that this particular incarnation of the Invision Power Board wasn't one of their better written. There's a number of inefficiently written queries in the software, which I will not try to repair as any patch done later on will likely undo my work.

There is an upgrade out there ready to go. Mathew if you notice any problems with code, you should contact them through our account. I have found them very responsive. Heck maybe they will offer you a job.

I just did a board version update tonight to 3.0.5. I am going to leave banner ads disabled for a week & then put them back & see if there is a noticeable performance hit.

Major Changes Since 3.0.4

Among many dozens of smaller bugs fixed and performance improvements, the following security enhancements were made:

SQL and local file include issue fixed. Note: Due to protection within the SQL driver classes, it is very difficult to effectively exploit IP.Board using this attack. Also you need moderator permissions to perform any exploit. We've hardened this code regardless. Also, due to the input cleaning functions IP.Board uses, the local file include is limited to PHP files on the file system as the usual 'null byte' trick is ineffective.

Internet Explorer XSS Issue due to incorrect attachment handling fixed.

Good job.
Family health problem, necessitated us to give up our TC and Truck and purchase a 2006 Pleasureway Plateau Class B, 22 foot motorhome, on a Dodge Sprinter with 2.7 diesel engine, fully self contained with Onan gen.

They had to move fast, Our other host shut us down twice in 2 days. It was a choice of spend more, or no forum. I also was only here for 2 more weeks and Mathew is not always around either. Fortunately he was available. In fact he was the first one to notice something was amiss on our old server.

The reason we were down for 4 days was because we did not have the luxury of building it on the new server & testing it before removing it from the old one.

No. . .I don't see it. Just the dark blue / light blue skin.

Also. . .been thinking again why the forum isn't even more zippy; could it have to do with all the graphics in signatures?
